LAST HOPE RESCUE IS A FOSTER BASED RESCUE.   OUR ADOPTABLE PETS ARE IN LOVING FOSTER HOMES.

Matilda and her mama Trixie are a sweet bonded pair. We'd love to see these 2 girls find a forever home together where they can flourish.

They were rescued together with Matilda's 2 siblings from a farm in which it appeared they had been dumped. They were surviving on compost and kibble stolen from the farm dog. Matilda (Tilly) was caught two days after Christmas 2021, and her mom, Trixie, the final remaining at the farm was caught a few days later. Two of her siblings have since found their forever homes but Tilly and Trixie are still looking!

Tilly is a tiny thing weighing in at 6lbs but makes up for it with her big personality. She’s very timid due to what appears to be a history of abuse (specifically by men, and/or someone wearing a windbreaker) but warms up after being offered any wet food or fish treat. She is now a love to her foster mom and is quickly becoming inquisitive and adventurous around her friends and family. She loves a good 10 minutes of scratches and love before getting out of bed. She also has recall to her name and even knows the phrase “Til, ready go bed?” and will run to curl up at night. She’s in great health, up to date on all vax/medical care.

Trixie (“Mama”)  is the sweetest little lady, she loves a good sunbath and is very content to follow her foster mom everywhere she goes. If you’re looking for a 8lb best friend, you’ve just found it. She is a bit shy at first but warms up quickly. She loves to cuddle and be held up to look out the windows by her foster mom. She’s also very fond of catnip and rubber chew toys, very much like a toddler. She’s fine around dogs but apprehensive at first, she does great with other cats. Mama is approximately 10 years old and had many litters in her years. She was rescued in January of 2022 with three of her kittens over a three month period from a farm where it appeared they may have been dumped. She was the most fearful and last to be caught. Her foster mom was a little worried she may never thrive as a house cat but around week 4 a switch flipped and she realized she had a warm bed and a full bowl tonight, tomorrow, and every night after, and she never had to give up her dinner to keep one of her kittens alive again. Once she was caught and vetted it became clear that she had a periodontal disease in which her gums were trying to reabsorb her teeth effectively forming ulcers through her gums. Due to this she had to have all but two of her teeth removed (she still has both bottom canines) but is eating better than she has in years. She eats a combination of kibble and wet food, she gets free choice and usually eats about 70:30% wet:kibble. She is otherwise a very happy, healthy little lady who very much deserves a forever family to love.
